World Series Coverage -- ??Write an analysis and critique of media coverage of the World Series, including print, television, and Internet.? The analysis must include specifics and examples and not be just a general commentary.?? You can also cover TV advertising during the series. G.? Summary/Analysis of Media Coverage of Presidential Campaign/Election 3 to 5-page report/analysis on media coverage of and role in of? 2008 presidential campaign.??? Details to be provided.???? Analyze television news, public affairs, or documentary programs.? Compare local and/or network news broadcasts.? (Programs must be from approved list.)?? Deadline ? April 6. ??????????????????????????????????????????? J.? Web Site Analysis ? Report on and analyze three media-related web sites from an approved list.?? Deadline ? November 20.?? ?? There will be other short written assignments.? These shorter assignments and class participation will constitute a total of 10% of the final grade. The Choice Assignments should be typed and these papers must be stapled or bound.?? The Student Biographical Information assignment is due by August 28. ??? 1. ??? Class attendance is important.? In a class that meets only twice a week, an absence can involve missing considerable information.? There is much to be covered in each class session. Class attendance will be regularly checked.? Past experience indicates that there is a close correlation between class attendance and how well students do on tests and assignments.? Tests/examinations are based on lectures and class discussion as well as assigned readings. ?On test/exam days, be sure to bring a pen to write with.? No additional materials/devices will be allowed in student work spaces on those dates.? ? 2. ??? In keeping with proper class decorum, students are kindly requested not to wear caps or other headgear during class meetings.? Please turn off cell phones, iPods, head phones, etc., during class and avoid behavior that is discourteous to your classmates or that will disrupt the class. 3. ??? When possible, the instructor will provide time near the end of class to answer individual questions from students and to arrange appointments if longer discussion is needed. 4. ??? It is the expectation that classes will not be canceled because of weather-related reasons except when the University is closed. 5. ??? You are strongly encouraged to call or visit or ask questions during or after class when you are unclear about assignments or material covered in class or if there are problems affecting your class work.?
