Team Canada ? Day 3 preview

BIG EVENT

The Allison McNeill-coached Canadian women?s basketball team looks to even its record at 1-1 with a 3 p.m. ET tipoff against Great Britain at the London Basketball Arena. Canada lost Saturday?s opener 58-53 to Russia. The host nation needs a win after losing 74-58 to Australia in its opener.

BIG FOR CANADA

Martin Reader of Comox, B.C. and Josh Binstock of Toronto meet Norway?s Tarjei Viken Skarlund and Martin Spinnangr in the first match of the day in men?s beach volleyball at Horse Guards Parade. The weather is forecast to be showery at the temporary beach.

Michelle Li of Toronto plays her first match in women?s singles badminton at Wembley Arena.

Scarborough, Ontario?s Crispin Duenas and Quebec City?s Marie-Pier Beaudet compete in archery eliminations at the Lord?s cricket grounds.

TRIVIA

It was 20 years ago today: Canada?s London 2012 chef de mission Mark Tewksbury won the 100 metre backstroke gold medal at the Barcelona Games on July 30, 1992.
