Knights of Mayhem, Reality TV Says ?OUCH!?

Ah, the days of chivalry! When knights took to horse and fought for honor, glory and love. Enter the National Geographic network, NatGeo, and their new hit reality series, ?Knights of Mayhem.? The show revolves around a group of wanna-be knights, led by Charlie Andrews. His ambition is to turn jousting into a 21st Century extreme sport. Extreme is the word! These guys really do face death, even with safety equipment and blunted lances. Anderson, himself, has broken nearly every bone in his 42 year old body. The rules for jousting have changed little in the past 600 years. While there are many who perform reenactments at Renaissance fairs, only a few dozen joust competitively. That means, they play to win by knocking you off your horse! Wearing armor is by no means all that protective. In some cases, it is closer to being entombed in steel prior to your death. A displaced plate of metal can injure you just as much as the lance can.
