Sony Exec Hints At May Announcement For PlayStation 4

As we edge closer and closer to the inevitable reveals of new hardware, new teases, leaks and speculation are to come thick and fast. The latest is via an interview with Sony executive Hiroshi Sakamoto.

When asked about whether Sony are working on a new PlayStation and when we could expect to see it Sakamoto replied, ?That?s still a big secret, but our friends at PlayStation are getting ready. For now I can only say that we?re focused in the gaming event ?E3?, scheduled for June.?

However, he then adds that ?an announcement can be by then, or even before, in May.?

The translation accuracy has been confirmed by multiple sources and when queried if it?d be a major announcement or not he agreed saying ?in that time we expect to deliver great news? and adds that ?we must wait until May at least.?

Given that there has been a wide range of discussion that the PlayStation 4 will be announced prior to E3 this certainly adds fuel to that fire. This would allow Sony to avoid the confusion that Nintendo suffered with the Wii U at E3 by getting the core functionality and features out-of-the-way, thus allowing June?s conference to be all about the games.
