Video: Wal-Mart exec: ?Great shopping experience? despite strike

>>> walmart's chief merchandising and marketing officer joins us. good morning to you.

>> thanks, savannah. thanks for having us on and happy thanksgiving to you and your team.

>> thanks very much.

>> do you expect widespread picketing on friday in.

>> savannah, we do not. we're really confident about a great shopping experience for our customers. a million walmart associates will be serving our customers tomorrow at 8:00, 10:00 , and, again, 5:00 friday morning. what you're seeing in the media and in the news is a small group of walmart associates in a select number of stores, and we'll have 4,000 stores open and ready to go. as you may know, our stores are always open on thanksgiving day .

>> as you say, this is a small group , and then, again, the company has filed a complaint with the national labor relations board to stop the protests that. does indicate the company takes this fairly seriously, correct?

>> savannah, i think the key here is that there's a small group of walmart associates complemented by a member of non-walmart associates that are paid by the union, and we just want to make sure that we have a great event for our customers and that's what we're prepared to do. 8:00 thursday night we've got a great event, a broad assortment of products. 10:00 , for the first time ever, savannah, this is the super bowl of retail. we, for the first time ever, will guarantee in stock for our customers three great products.

>> okay.

>> so if our customers are in line at our store they will get the product that night or it will be in that store before christmas.

>> let's stay on topic just for a minute. if someone does picket that's an employee of your store, will they face retaliation? will they be fired or see their hours cut down?

>> savannah, we have a really open culture. it's all will listening to our associates. it's based in integrity, with respect to the individual. our operators and our store managers always want to listen to the concerns of our associates, and we do that all the time.

>> no ramifications if somebody protests?

>> we'll treat each case individually, savannah.

>> okay. duncan mcnaughton , thanks for being on our show this morning, really appreciate it, and
